As an energetic student and community member, Áine Ganly is determined to challenge herself and the people around her.
Áine attended a high school for the arts in Toronto, where she was an outstanding student in the media arts, dance and musical theatre programs.
She graduated as a dance major, an award winning photographer and an Ontario Scholar.
Throughout high school Áine participated in the Students for Political Action club, organizing a successful “Red Hand Campaign” to raise awareness and push for action to be taken in regards to the use of child soldiers, as well as many other events and fundraisers.
She performed all over the city with her school’s dance company, choreographed for paying audiences and acted as a principal performer in the school’s musical.
Like many of Guelph’s geography students, Áine is passionate about the outdoors and the health of our planet.
With an impressive canoeing resume including some of Quebec’s best white water and a paddle across Canada’s James Bay, Áine is passionate about increasing the accessibility of wilderness and experiential education programs for youth.
Áine has felt honoured to speak about these issues to audiences at several events for the Deepwater Experiential Education Project (D.E.E.P). D.E.E.P is an organization that is very dear to her heart and shares her goals to increase diversity in youth wilderness programs and to promote the importance and accessibility of experiential education programs.
After graduating from high school, Áine began to work full time as a direct dialogue fundraiser for organizations such as Doctors Without Boarders, and UNICEF.
Driven by the desire to educate others on events occurring in our international community, at the age of eighteen she was proud to be one of the top door to door fundraisers in North America for an international fundraising company.
These days, she spends her time studying, exploring the arboretum, spotting wildlife by the river and playing music with friends.
She is happy to be back in school and is excited for the opportunities that Guelph’s geography program has to offer.
