The Hurricanes won the cup after defeating the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7 of the NHL championship finals in June, marking the team’s first Stanley Cup victory. “This trophy is the most difficult to win in professional sports, and I invite the community to come out and enjoy it while it’s here,” said MacDonald, whose wife, Ruth, is an accounts receivable clerk for U of G’s Hospitality Services. In addition, voluntary donations to Guelph’s SuperWalk for Parkinson’s, to be held Sept. 9, will be accepted at this time, he said. |
