Published by Communications and Public Affairs (519) 824-4120, Ext. 56982 or 53338 News ReleaseJanuary 27, 2000 Regional campuses to take part in Job Fair 2000As part of the Partnerships for Employment, the University of Guelph, along with the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and Conestoga College, is sponsoring the seventh annual Job Fair to take place Feb. 2. More than 3,000 students are expected to attend this year's fair at Bingemans Conference Centre in Kitchener from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It will attract more than 160 employers from a cross-section of industries, including communications, financial services, government, health care, marketing, sales and merchandising, law enforcement, pharmaceutical, retail and service providers, recreation and camps, software, technological innovation and production, operations management and logistics, manufacturing, consulting and accounting. "The job fair is advantageous to employers as they are able to meet students from all four institutions in one day," said Bill Pires, employer development and marketing officer in U of G's Student Employment Services. "In turn, it is a great opportunity for students to be exposed to employers who don't normally recruit on their own campus." Employers come from across Ontario as well as Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta and the United States. They will be hiring students from all disciplines for summer, permanent, contract, co-op and/or part-time opportunities. Participating employers include Nortel Networks, the Ontario Provincial police, the Public Service Commission, CIBC and Camp Trillum. Free busing is being provided from all participating campuses and admission is free for students and alumni from the four schools.
