U of G Health and Performance Centre holds open house

The University of Guelph's Health and Performance Centre will hold a special information night Thursday, Jan. 13 to help people meet their fitness and nutrition goals.

"This is an opportunity for people to ask questions and learn more about the programs we offer that help improve lifestyle, increase energy and decrease body fat," said Cyndy McLean, centre co-ordinator.

"A strength of the centre is that everyone can benefit from its services, from someone who wants nutritional analysis or recommendations on their diet or rehabilitation of an injury, to athletes to who want high-tech performance testing. It is one-stop shopping available to everyone."

The session will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Health and Performance Centre, located in the J.T. Powell Building.

The centre provides a full range of holistic services to people seeking to improve the performance of their daily living activities, recreational exercise or sport. It offers chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage therapy, athletic therapy, fitness and sports medicine services. It also serves as a hands-on research and teaching facility for students in biomedical sciences, human kinetics and nutritional sciences.

The Centre houses a hydrostatic weighing tank used to determine body fat, one of only six such machines at Canadian universities and the only one in Guelph open to the public.
