Published by Communications and Public Affairs (519) 824-4120, Ext. 56982 or 53338 News ReleaseAugust 27, 2002 Canadian national synchronized swim team to perform at U of GThe Canadian National Synchronized Swimming Team will be performing at the University of Guelph on Wednesday, August 28 in support of the Guelph Food Bank. The performance will start at 7 p. m. at the Mitchell Athletics Centre and is open to the public. The Canadian team has been Olympic Gold and Bronze medallists at the last two Olympic games. The team comprises 12 highly trained international athletes including Claire Carver-Dias and Fanny Letourneau, who won Gold medals at last month’s Commonwealth Games. This will be the team’s final performance before the World Championships, which will be held in Switzerland next month. The Guelph Synchronized Swimming club will also perform two team routines. Suggested admission is $5 for adults (or approximate food equivalent) and $2 for children under age 16. All proceeds go to the Guelph Food Bank. Canned and boxed food items are preferred.
