Gryphon men win spot in basketball nationals
The University of Guelph men's basketball team has won a spot in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) basketball championships at the Halifax Metro Centre March 14 to 16.
The Gryphons became the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) West Division champions March 5 when they defeated the McMaster Marauders 77-67. This is the first time in six years the U of G men will compete in the nationals.
With the victory, Guelph will host the OUA East champions and Canada's top-ranked university team, the Carleton Ravens, March 8 at 2 p.m. at W.F. Mitchell Athletics Centre.
