UC Davis researcher to address Class of 2006

Convocation ceremonies this year will feature an address by one of North America’s leading experts in immune system responses and reproductive health in animals.

Dr. Lynette Corbeil will address the Class of 2006 on Tuesday, with ceremonies getting under way at 2:30 p.m. Corbeil, who graduated from OVC in 1962, has built a distinguished career as a teacher and researcher in the field of infectious disease and veterinary immunology.

Her current research focuses on the mechanisms of resistance to infection of the respiratory and reproductive tracts of cattle.

Dr. Corbeil has a PhD from Cornell University and completed post-doctoral studies at the University of California, San Diego, in 1978. She was then a faculty member at both Kansas State and Washington State
Colleges of Veterinary Medicine.

Now she is head of the Division of Comparative Pathology and Medicine in the Department of Pathology, School of Medicine, UCSD, and a professor of pathology, population health and reproduction, 
at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.

She is also the co-director of the UC Veterinary Medical Center San Diego, a joint venture of UCSD and UC Davis.

Dr. Corbeil will also be interacting with faculty and students during her two-day visit to OVC. On Monday, she will deliver a special seminar titled “On the Serendipity Road with Haemophilus somnus.” The seminar will take place Monday, June 12 at noon in Room 1714 of the Lifetime Learning Centre. All are welcome.
