DVMs invited to apply for graduate fellowships
To address the extraordinary national opportunities for veterinarians, the Ontario Veterinary College has developed an on-going program of MSc/PhD research training positions for veterinarians who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
Annual stipends of a minimum of $28,000 (MSc, two years) to $30,000 (PhD, three years) are competitively available for well-qualified DVM graduates with excellent academic records in any of the broad fields of graduate studies listed below:
• Biomedical Toxicology and Pharmacology
• Reproductive biology
• Developmental, Cell and Tissue Morphology
• Immunology
• Epidemiology
• Food Safety
• Pathology
• Comparative Pathology
• Veterinary Infectious Disease
• Laboratory Animal Medicine

. It may be necessary for a successful candidate to enter a MSc program and then reapply for support to continue on in a PhD program.
The deadline for the 2007 competition is June 11.
Candidates should submit a completed application form (available from website) which includes a statement of interest, an identified advisor at Guelph, an outline of the research proposal, transcript of university grades, three letters of recommendation and a curriculum vitae. Candidates awarded these fellowship will begin at the start of a University of Guelph semester (September, May, January). Successful candidates would be expected to apply for nationally-funded fellowships during the course of their studies.
