Dave Scott-Thomas, head coach of Guelph's track and field and cross-country teams, has been named head coach of the Canadian track and field team competing at the World University Summer Games in Turkey. The event will feature 8,000 athletes from 170 countries and is second in size to the Olympics. The track and field competition runs Aug. 15 to 20.
"Although I am named as head coach, in reality they are my peers and I am confident we will function together as a smooth unit," said Scott-Thomas.
Gryphon throws coach Jim Wardle is also serving on the coaching staff for Canada at the games.
