Planning Process Moves Forward, Organizational Recommendations Made
September 09, 2005 - Campus Bulletin
Prof. Maureen Mancuso, provost and vice-president (academic), has released a summary of the Vice-President Academic's Council (VPAC) retreat held in late August, at which the operational guidelines for the University’s integrated planning process were discussed.
The summary includes details of how the integrated planning process will co-ordinate unit-specific planning efforts to provide a University-wide plan. VPAC agreed to enhance the Priority Investment Fund, which will be used to fund innovation in support of learning across campus. It also agreed that units would make permanent contributions towards annual inflationary costs.
In addition, VPAC discussed three organizational initiatives begun last year relating to the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, the Faculty of Management and the School of Engineering and made recommendations regarding reorganization based on reports from external consultants. The recommendations, which will be forwarded to the Senate Committee on University Planning this fall, include the creation of a new College of Management, locating the Faculty of Environmental Sciences in the Ontario Agricultural College and working with the School of Engineering to expand programming and opportunities for research.
