"Skip a Meal" Campaign Continues
November 09, 2005 - Campus Bulletin
U of G’s “Skip a Meal” campaign offered through Meal Exchange continues until Nov. 11. On Nov.9, tables were set up in the University Centre and at peak meal times in Creelman Hall and Mountain Hall for students to donate points from their meal plans or give cash. Faculty and staff can also make cash donations or give through their Express Cards. Those without campus meal plans can support the cause by purchasing a $1 decorative paper cup from the Bullring all this week. Cups will then be displayed at the coffeehouse with donors names printed on them.
Donations are used to buy wholesale products, including specialty items that aren’t often collected in traditional food drives. “Skip a Meal” benefits 17 organizations throughout the city that support abused women, homeless teens and people who use food banks. U of G students have taken part in the “Skip a Meal” initiative since 1997 and have contributed $180,000 in food for local organizations.
