Tractor Pull at U of G Raises $12,000 for Charity
November 29, 2006 - News Release
The Tractor Tug for Tots event hosted at the University of Guelph yesterday raised $12,000 for Sunshine Dreams for Kids, a charity that helps fulfil the dreams of children living with severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses.
The event was organized by the Ontario Agricultural College class of 2008 and included 30 eight-person teams who pulled 17,000-pound John Deere tractors 150 feet as quickly as they could to the finish line along the road in front of the Crop Science and Landscape Architecture buildings.
The three fastest teams were Elmira Farm Service, the Guelph Police and the OAC 2007 Heavy Weights.
“I’ve been to a lot of fundraisers around the country and in terms of organization, money raised and sheer enjoyment of the event, this ranks among the top,” said Mark Foresi of Sunshine Dreams for Kids.
Sunshine Dreams for Kids has fulfilled more than 6,000 kids’ dreams since 1987.
