Reminder: UC Entrance Mall Closed to Cars
September 05, 2007 - Campus Bulletin
A reminder to the University community that vehicular traffic on the roadway in front of the University Centre is now restricted to buses and emergency vehicles. This is to ensure that the new transit hub in front of the UC is safe and efficient.
Campus community police are issuing warnings for the time being, but will soon be ticketing cars in the entrance mall. The tickets carry a $100 fine.
The new transit hub was built over the summer to accommodate increased bus service, including new GO Transit routes that connect U of G to the greater Toronto region. The transit hub includes passenger platforms and bus bays, improved sidewalks, barrier-free ramps, new lighting and new bus shelters.
There is an expanded passenger pickup/drop-off area located in P42, the parking lot south of the UC. The lot also contains barrier-free parking spaces and short-term parking meters. P1, located near the Axelrod Building, also has barrier-free spaces.
