Ian Reilly, a PhD student in literary studies/theatre studies in English and a media studies instructor at the University of Guelph-Humber, was featured on the CBC radio program Ontario Today recently, talking satirical news and its effect on news consumption and civic participation. Reilly talked with show host Rita Celli May 28 about "fake news" and whether it promotes cynicism and skepticism or stimulates a greater desire for news. He also took calls from listeners during the 40-minute show. Listen to the segment

Reilly was interviewed while taking part in the 2009 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences at Carleton University last week. As the largest multidisciplinary academic gathering in Canada, the event attracted researchers, scholars and students in the humanities and social sciences from around the world. This year’s theme was Capital Connections: nation, terroir, territoire, and provides an exploration into identity and globalization.
