'Best Lecturer' Nominations Sought
September 10, 2009 - Campus Bulletin
Members of the University community are invited to nominate their favourite professor for the 2010 TVO's Big Ideas Best Lecturer Competition.
The competition celebrates the most engaging lecturers at Ontario's universities and colleges and recognizes those whose love of learning has helped to stimulate imaginations, open eyes and push boundaries. The winning school is awarded a $10,000 TD Insurance Meloche Monnex scholarship.
Last year, Prof. Patrick Parnaby, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, was named one of 20 semifinalists.
Submissions are reviewed by a panel of judges who choose the top 10 finalists. Lectures by the 10 finalists will air on TVO's Big Ideas beginning in February 2010, and the winning lecturer will be chosen by viewers and an independent jury.
By nominating someone, you will automatically be entered into a contest to win one of two iPod touch devices.
Nominations can be made by sending e-mails to bl@tvo.org with the subject line "BL 2010 Nomination." The submission should include the full name of the professor, the university or college and the department the nominee teaches in and 50 to 100 words saying why the professor should be named Best Lecturer. The nominator's full name, e-mail address and telephone number should also be included.
Nominations are being accepted until Oct. 12. More information is available online.
