Prof Featured in Toronto Star

Prof. Ernesto Guzman is featured in Sunday's Toronto Star discussing his latest research on the decline of Ontario's bee population.
The environmental biology professor has been investigating the role parasites have played in the severe loss of Ontario's honeybees every winter.
In the article, Guzman points to the varroa mite, a crab-like parasite, rather than colony collapse disorder as the reason why Ontario is losing more than 30 per cent of its domestic bees every year.
Since the fall of 2007, he has been following 413 Ontario bee colonies for a year and recording their fates. His research is to be published in the journal Apidologie.
