Mini-Vet School Back by Popular Demand
January 12, 2011 - News Release
The University of Guelph's Ontario Veterinary College will bring back its hugely successful OVC Mini-Vet School this spring. Registration is now open for the 2011 program, which will include courses on oncology and surgery.
The program will cover just about everything people ever wondered about cats, dogs, horses and herds. The Mini-Vet School includes four weekly sessions, two one-hour classes per evening. It begins March 3 at 7 p.m.
Online registration is first-come, first-served, and spaces are limited. Last year’s school sold out quickly.
All proceeds go to Global Vets, a student-based program at OVC that provides opportunities to study veterinary medicine overseas.
“The OVC Mini-Vet School is a great way to learn about the animals that share our lives and to provide a window into the world of veterinarians,” said Michelle Horton, an OVC student and Global Vet who is helping organize this year’s program.
OVC student and co-organizer Corey Biesinger added: “We’ve structured the evenings so that everyone can get the most out of the classes and experience how student veterinarians are taught at OVC.”
The fee is $125 before Feb. 1, $150 after.
