Prof, Grad Student Featured on CNN

U of G geography professor Barry Smit was featured recently by CNN international news. The news story, which is available online and includes several colour photographs, focuses on a new book that Smit co-authored that looks at how climate change is affecting the lives and livelihoods of the Inuit people.

The book, Community Adaptation and Vulnerability in Arctic Regions, paints a picture of the impact of rising temperatures on Arctic communities across the North and how these communities are struggling to adapt. More information

Also mentioned in the CNN story is PhD student Tristan Pearce, one of Smit’s researchers. He has been travelling to Ulukhaktok, Northwest Territories, for the past six years to study the implications of climate change. Pearce spends up to six months a year living in the northern village of about 400.
