Prof to Talk Sex With Globe and Mail Readers
July 06, 2011 - In the News
Robin Milhausen, a sexuality researcher and professor in the Department of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition, will lead a live online discussion on sexual relations among older adults for the Globe and Mail Thursday.
The discussion was prompted by a new report from Statistics Canada that found sexually transmitted infection rates rose faster between 1997 and 2007 for middle-aged Canadians than for younger people.
Among other things, Milhausen will discuss why older adults are less likely to practise safe sex. She will also answer questions about human sexuality. The online discussion will start at 1 p.m. People may leave advance questions in the comments section on the Globe and Mail’s website.
Milhausen studies gender and sexuality, sexual problems, sexual and relationship satisfaction in couples, sexual arousal, and condom use errors and problems. Before joining U of G, she co-hosted the TV show Sex, Toys and Chocolate. She completed a PhD at the world-renowned Kinsey Institute in Indiana and was a post-doctoral researcher at the School of Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta.
