University, UGFA Reach Tentative Agreement
July 28, 2011 - Campus Bulletin
Working together with the assistance of a third-party mediator, the University of Guelph and the University of Guelph Faculty Association (UGFA) reached a tentative agreement, in the early hours of this morning, which now requires ratification by both parties.
The University and UGFA, which represents U of G faculty members, librarians and veterinarians, have been negotiating a renewal contract since the end of March. In June, they agreed to engage the services of a third-party mediator, William Kaplan, to assist in their discussions.
Details of the agreement remain confidential pending ratification. The fact that the two parties reached an agreement in a collegial and mutually respectful manner is indicative of their positive working relationship, University and UGFA officials say.
