Dave Scott-Thomas, head coach of the University of Guelph’s track-and-field and cross-country teams, is featured in today's Globe and Mail. The story looks at how Scott-Thomas turned around U of G’s track-and-field program and created the Speed River Track and Field Club for student and local runners. It’s now the most successful running club in Canada.
Since arriving at Guelph in 1997, Scott-Thomas has won 22 Coach of the Year Awards from Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and 19 from Canadian Interuniversity Sport. In addition, he received the Fox 40 OUA Coach of the Year Award three times. Scott-Thomas also coaches at the National Endurance Centre-Guelph, where he works with one of the strongest groups of national team athletes in Canada. A Level IV certified coach, he has coached Olympians and 17 national teams. The U of G running expert also provides advice via online chats to Globe and Mail readers on a regular basis.
