Electrical Shutdown Set for April 28
April 24, 2012 - Campus Bulletin
The University of Guelph will be conducting its annual campus electrical shutdown on Saturday, April 28, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
The majority of campus buildings will be without regular power during this time.
Building elevators will be out of service. Access to campus buildings should be restricted, other than for security reasons. Essential and emergency lighting will not be affected.
Of particular note, the McLaughlin Library, University Centre and W.F. Mitchell Athletic Centre will be closed.
Buildings not affected by the shutdown include most of the Ontario Veterinary College, the Central Animal Facility and Canadian Research Institute for Food Safety (CRIFS). A complete list of unaffected buildings is available online.
The annual shutdown is part of a preventive maintenance program and enabled a thorough inspection of some of the University's main electrical feeders.
April 28 was selected because it falls on a weekend between semesters when activity levels are low and before hot, humid weather has begun.
