U of G Opens Doors to Celebrate OVC, Campus Heritage
April 23, 2012 - News Release
The University of Guelph and the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) will open their doors — and walkways — April 28 as part of “Doors Open Ontario 2012” in the city of Guelph.
The event will feature three OVC buildings and Winegard Walk.
Doors Open Ontario, sponsored by the Ontario Heritage Trust, allows residents and visitors to discover local and provincial architectural and historical heritage.
This year, the event will take place in 57 municipalities and regions across Ontario.
Doors Open Guelph will highlight OVC to mark the college’s 150th anniversary this year. The tour will feature OVC's main building; the Equine Sports and Reproduction Centre, which promotes health and wellness of equine athletes; and the Hill’s Pet Nutrition Primary Healthcare Centre, a full-service primary-care centre run by students.
Also featured will be Winegard Walk, a pedestrian spine connecting north and south campus flanked by a number of buildings created by top international designers.
Across the city, Doors Open will feature 10 sites. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Doors Open Guelph is led by the Guelph Arts Council with support from Heritage Guelph and the City of Guelph Tourism Services.
