Fall Convocation Set for Oct. 20

A chemist known for advancing science through teaching innovations and an internationally recognized specialist in water resources will receive honorary degrees during the University of Guelph’s fall convocation Oct. 20. More than 800 degrees and diplomas will be awarded during four ceremonies in War Memorial Hall.
David Harpp, a professor of chemistry at McGill University, has delivered hundreds of public lectures about science. He has received 14 awards for teaching, outreach and science promotion. Harpp will receive an honorary doctorate of laws during the 9 a.m. ceremony.
Chandra Madramootoo, dean of the faculty of agricultural and environmental sciences and associate vice-principal at McGill University, led the creation of the McGill Institute for Global Food Security and was the founding director of the Brace Centre for Water Resources Management. He will receive an honorary doctorate of science during the 2 p.m. ceremony.
