Collection Protocol

Collect blood into a citrated vacutainer tube; invert gently to mix; centrifuge; transfer the citrated plasma to a labelled, plastic vial free of additional anticoagulant; freeze immediately and ship with a freezer pack.

Additional Information

Atraumatic venipuncture is important to prevent activation and depletion of clotting factors during sample collection. The ratio of citrate to blood is also critical for valid test results.
