The Alliance provides funding to the University of Guelph’s Ontario Veterinary College through the Veterinary Capacity Program (VCP) [1]. The VCP ensures an ongoing supply of rural and agricultural veterinarians who can support farming communities and monitor the health of animals in the food chain, as well as veterinarians with the skills and expertise to serve on the front line of disease surveillance.
Read about Salomon Schroeter’s experience with mixed animal veterinary practice, experience enabled by the VCP program, in his August 2019 blog post [2], or read blogs from veterinary students who completed placements during the fall of 2020 [3].
#BehindtheNumbers is a series of stories from the Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance 2019-20 Annual Report, Growing Ontario Solutions [4], that showcases how the Alliance drives impact in Ontario.
