The Seventeenth and Eighteenth centuries are referred to as the Age of Reason, the Enlightenment, and the age of the Scientific Revolution. We will examine some of the thinkers who were most instrumental in shaping modern conceptions of science, politics and morality. Our readings will include selections from Bacon, Boyle, Descartes, Locke, Berkeley, Hobbes, Leibniz, and Hume.
