Course code:
PHIL*2030-01
Course term:
Winter 2013
Details:
Contemporary medicine acts like a gravitational force, causing Ethics, Religion, Commerce and Law to collide with Vanity, Convenience, Greed and Fear. Such collisions are bound to produce sparks. In Philosophy of Medicine we will study those sparks, and examine such issues as Abortion, Prenatal screening, mental health, Genetic selection and modification, and animal and human experimentation. Active student participation is essential to the course, though these and many more issues will certainly stimulate animated debate. Ethical theory and Critical Thinking will be studied in the first few weeks of the course.
