Our topic for this course is phenomenology, and the goal of the course is to explain what phenomenology is. We shall attempt:
(i) to determine what distinguishes phenomenology as a philosophical approach;
(ii) to identify the chief species of phenomenology that are to be distinguished within this general approach;
(iii) to assess critically the values and merits of these species of phenomenology with regard to one another;
& (iv) to practice pheneomenology by engaging in the critical analyisis of two investigations in formal ontology (one by Husserl and the other by Ingarden).
