HIST*3480 WORKPLACE LEARNING is an independent study course based on either History related voluntary or paid workplace experience. Students combine scholarly research and reflection with applied on-the-job experience. In Fall 2018, the History Department will offer a variety of workplace projects for the course. A detailed list of topics, along with course outlines, will be added here as projects become available.

- Guelph Civic Museum (project TBD) - Dr. Alan Gordon
- McLaughlin Library Archives/CFRU Radio Historical Recordings - Dr. Linda Mahood
- Kayak Magazine: The History of games, leisure and relaxation in Canada - Dr. Catherine Carstairs
- United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin - Dr. Catherine Carstairs
If you are interested, please contact the Instructor/Faculty Advisor listed on the preliminary course outline of the appropriate project in the list of links at the bottom of this page.
Method of Evaluation:
Evaluation will be based on assignments relating to work duties. These will usually be in the form of a weekly journal, and a major project relating to some specific aspect of the work experience. Students interested in this option must have their project approved by the department prior to the semester in which they plan to engage in their work experience. Students will then be assigned to a faculty supervisor who will oversee the project.
This course is not available by electronic registration. Students must seek the permission for supervision from an instructor and obtain an Add/Drop form to register.
