What is justice and why is it preferable to injustice? What range of issues does it cover? Can it be defined by one all-encompassing principle or by a set of few principles? And finally, what does the answer to these questions imply for any political arrangement and moral theory? The aim of this course is to introduce the students to the topic of justice by way of examining possible answers to these questions through a survey of classical and contemporary social and political theories. By the end of the course the students should be able to identify issues of justice in contemporary context and critically evaluate the merit of claims and arguments concerning these issues.
