PHIL 6950 and PHIL 6960 are known informally as the "Graduate Seminar." It is mandatory for all graduate students, MA or PhD, in the fist year of their programs. It cannot be taken by any other students. The course is Pass/Fail. The appropriate grade is assigned at the end of the Winter term ("in progress" is assigned at the end of the Fall term). The course deals with a number of issues of academic and professional significance: scholarship applications, supervision, teaching, non-academic careers, publication, and other topics.
