Bag Bank Guelph

Bag Bank Guelph

Bag Bank Guelph is a reusable bag initiative in Guelph, Ontario, to reduce the use of single-use plastics in the form of plastic grocery bags. The program involves creating “Borrow Bins” to be placed in participating stores in Guelph. Customers can borrow a Bag Bank bag, use it for groceries, and then return it to any participating location across town.

Bag Bank aims to reduce Guelph’s single-use plastic consumption and bring together community members of all ages, backgrounds, and lived experiences through hands-on volunteer work of sewing bags and, running bag drives and donating extra bags to community centres in need.

Bag Bank was on hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic and is currently relaunching with a pilot at the Campus Co-op Bookstore.
