A Wild Summer with Wild Ontario
The Wild Ontario team had an incredibly busy, successful summer training students, caring for the bird team and representing the College of Biological Science at educational outreach programs all over Ontario!
A wild summer, by the numbers:
-
16 volunteers, 1 summer student and 2 fulltime staff
-
2,300+ hours of animal care and training
-
54 outreach education programs for audiences of all ages
-
Over 10,000 kilometres driven across Ontario
-
Inspired more than 7,700 members of the public
-
Stopped for ice cream at least 25 times!
Outreach program highlights included presentations at French River, MacGregor, Rideau River and Algonquin Provincial Parks, repeat visits to the rare Charitable Research Reserve, Guelph Humane Society and Storybook Gardens as well as appearances at the PISCES Conference, University of Guelph Childcare and Learning Centre and the Arboretum Expo, right here on campus!
Thanks for the Wild Ontario team for another wonderful summer of hard work, learning and fun adventures!
