University of Guelph jumps 50 places in Biological Sciences category of QS World University Rankings
The University has been ranked among the top 251-300 universities in the world for biological sciences, according to the 2024 QS World University Rankings, published on April 10.
The University of Guelph’s Biological Sciences ranking jumped 50 places over last year, when it ranked 301-350. Biological Sciences is a category within the Life Sciences and Medicine subject area. U of G ranked 231st in that subject area this year. The ranking weighs academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per faculty, H-Index and international research network.
Overall, the University of Guelph ranked 486th of the more than 1,500 global institutions included in the rankings by global higher education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds. The university scored high for citations per faculty, international faculty ratio, sustainability, and international research network.
U of G also ranked 8th in the world for Veterinary Science, 24th in the Agriculture and Forestry category, and 151-200 in Environmental Sciences.
Data is collected through a mixture of surveys completed by academics and employers, research data, such as citations, and QS’s International Research Network, which examines the university’s international research partnerships and co-authorships in subject-specific research.
