Join colleagues to celebrate the start of the new academic year at our annual Community Breakfast!

Enjoy a warm welcome and an overview of our community’s goals for the year ahead. We will also recognize the recipients of the 2024 President’s Awards for Exemplary Staff Service and Long-Term Service Awards.

  • Pick up breakfast in the W.F. Mitchell Centre Main Gym and head into the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Events Centre

To support sustainability efforts and minimize food waste, claim your complimentary ticket for the Community Breakfast. We cannot guarantee that we will have enough food available for those who do not RSVP.

Your ticket will be scanned as you enter the W.F Mitchell Main Gym to pick up your breakfast, so you MUST download your ticket to your smartphone or present a hard copy of your ticket.

How to claim your ticket

IMPORTANT: Tickets will show as unavailable until you log in using your central login credentials.

  1. Click on the red "RSVP now" button below to access Gryphons Tickets.
  2. In Gryphons Tickets, click on the yellow button in the top-right corner to log in or register. You need to create an account if you don’t already have one.
  3. Once you are logged into your account, the option to claim your ticket will be available in the green box.
  4. Follow the instructions to claim your ticket.

Deans, directors, chairs and supervisors will be asked where possible to provide time for all those who wish to attend.

Schedule of campus community events for 2024-2025

Mark your calendar and plan to attend some of the events listed below. You’ll find options you can attend during the workday with colleagues or on the evening/weekend with your family and friends. We have a dynamic and supportive community at U of G and there are many ways to engage.

  • Saturday, August 24: U of G Community Day Gryphon Football in support of the United Way.
  • Wednesday, September 25: U of G United Way Campaign Kickoff
    • Join Dr. Rene Van Acker, vice-president, Research & Innovation (acting president and vice-chancellor), and representatives from U of G, the United Way, and the City of Guelph to kick off this year’s United Way campaign in Branion Plaza from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enjoy toonie hot dogs, apple crisp, popcorn, cotton candy, music, and more! All hot dog sales and a portion of other food sales will support U of G’s United Way campaign.
  • Monday, September 30: National Truth and Reconciliation Ceremony
    • Gather with the campus community in Branion Plaza to honour survivors, the children who never returned home and their families and communities. Hear words of truth from the experiences of survivors and reflections on reconciliation. Those unable to attend are encouraged to take a moment for personal reflection throughout their day.  Visit the Indigenous Initiatives website to learn more about how to actively engaging in Truth and Reconciliation Week, Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
  • Tuesday, October 1: Campus Mile: Kick-Off to Healthy Workplace Month 2024
    • Join us for the sixth annual U of G Campus Mile to kick off Healthy Workplace Month!  Beginning at the Portico on Johnston Green, walk, run, or roll a mile. Engage in physical activity, connect with colleagues, and boost your mood. Afterward, enjoy refreshments, photos with the Gryph mascot, and a chance to win an Annual Red Parking Pass from Parking Services!
  • Tuesday, October 15: Take your Break Event
    • Join us at the UC Courtyard or OVC Cafeteria from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. for a free hot beverage and snacks. All U of G employees are welcome, so bring your colleagues! The Take Your Break event is about recognizing our staff and faculty, promoting healthy work habits, and supporting mental and social well-being.
  • Thursday, October 31: Halloween Trivia for Staff and Faculty
    • Join us for lunch and a spook-tacular Halloween Trivia on October 31, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM in Peter Clark Hall! Grab your $15 ticket and don't forget to dress up as there will be a prize for the best costume! Tickets are on sale now until October 28th: https://trellis.org/university-of-guelph-ugly-trick-or-trivia-2024. You can purchase both single tickets and a whole table for ten.
  • November 1-10: U of G at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair
    • Join us at the 102nd Royal Agricultural Winter Fair (Nov 1-10) and visit the University of Guelph’s “Future of Food” exhibit! Faculty, staff, and students can enjoy discounted tickets for $19.24 each (regular price $32.50). A shuttle service is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. For tickets and shuttle info, visit the Campus Parking Services website. Learn more about the Fair and the full schedule of events and displays at royalfair.org. Electronic tickets will be emailed the week of October 28th. 
  • Friday, November 8: Indigenous Veterans Day
    • Join the U of G community from 9 to 9:15 am by the flagpole at the corner of College Ave. and Gordon St. as we recognize Indigenous Veterans Day and honour the important contributions made by First Nations, Inuit and Métis veterans in service to Canada. The event includes:
      • Lowering of the Canadian flag
      • Formal remarks
      • Moment of silence
      • Last Lament
  • Saturday, November 9: War Memorial Hall 100th Anniversary Celebration
  • Monday, November 11: Remembrance Day Service
    • Join the U of G community from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. as we honor those who have served and continue to serve during times of conflict. Formal programming begins in Branion Plaza, followed by a procession to War Memorial Hall. All are welcome to attend, rain or shine. The service includes:
      • Formal remarks in Branion Plaza
      • Community procession to lay wreaths on steps of War Memorial Hall
      • Music by Gryphons Singers, Last Post, moment of silence and Rouse on steps of War Memorial Hall
  • Thursday, November 28: Coffee with the President
  • Tuesday, February 18: Take your Break Event
  • Friday, March 7: Employee Appreciation Day & International Women’s Day
  • Saturday, March 15 & Sunday, March 16: College Royal
  • Thursday, May 1: Spring Social
  • Monday, May 5: Be Well, Be Safe Week Kick-Off Event
