Economics professor and associate dean Miana Plesca has obtained a grant from the Ontario Pay Equity Office to study salary discrepencies between men and women. Plesca will work with computer science adjunct professor Luiza Antonie, as well as Economics PhD student Jennifer Teng. By comparing wage gaps in Ontario and the rest of Canada, they will determine what policies would be most effective in addressing these discrepancies. Plesca plans to examine whether there is a link between the deterioration of Ontario’s smaller gender gap to the introduction of the sunshine list - an annual report of public sector employees who earn $100,000 or more.
