Past Student's Accompleshment
Dr. Dutta has supervised or co-supervised 62 graduate students (25 Master of Applied Science, 17 Master of Engineering, and 20 PhD students, who have successfully completed their programs). Notably, two of his PhD graduates have established themselves as faculty members in Thailand, two in Iraq, one in Bangladesh, and two in Canada. For instance, Bishnu Acharya (tenured associated Prof.), who pursued both MSc and PhD degrees under his guidance, was appointed as the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture Endowed Chair in Bioprocess Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan in August 2020. Dr. Shakirudden, who graduated in 2020, was recently hired as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department of McMaster University. Over the years, five visiting professors have also conducted research in his lab. Currently, Dr. Dutta is advising or co-advising 7 PhD students, 2 postdoctoral fellows, 2 visiting scholars, and 2 research assistants, all focused on various aspects of energy conversion technologies. Furthermore, he has served as a member of research advisory committees for 35 MSc and PhD students, participated in comprehensive examination committees for 27 PhD students, and served as a PhD thesis external examiner for 19 students at various universities worldwide. Many of his HQPs hold significant government positions in countries such as Nepal, the Maldives, Thailand, as well as the United Nations Industrial Development Organization offices in Thailand and Bangladesh. The skills they have acquired in my research program are cutting-edge, enabling them to excel in their roles. Dr. Shao, an Associate Professor at Tianjin University, has established a Collaborative Innovation Center of Chemical Science and Engineering. Dr. Heidari leads the Energy Management Project for the city of Mississauga, and Dr. Nourizi serves as the senior R&D Specialist and IP manager for Anaergia Inc.
