Yu Na Lee was recognized with an Honorable Mention in the AAEA Outstanding Dissertation Award category.

At the recently held Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Awards ceremony in Washington D.C., Yu Na Lee, one of our new faculty members, was recognized with an Honorable Mention in the AAEA Outstanding Dissertation Award category.

Dr. Lee’s dissertation explores how commodity price volatility affects decision-making and welfare of economic agents. Her dissertation focused on food prices, the volatility of which has been an important topic of policy discussions in the wake of the global food crises of 2008 and 2010-11. Using both observational and experimental methods, Dr. Lee’s research addresses topics of migration and decision-making, in the face of price risk, amongst agricultural producers and households in developing countries.

Dr Lee remarked that: "Without the incredible support and guidance of my advisor, committee members, my parents, and my friends, this would not have been possible. Receiving this recognition is a great honour, and this motivates me to work harder to reciprocate the support to the profession in the forms of research, teaching, and service."
