FARE undergraduate crowned 2016-2017 Ontario Queen of the Furrow

At the International Plowing Match in Harrison, Ontario, FARE undergraduate student Antia Rastapkevicius (OAC '17) was crowned the 2016-2017 Ontario Queen of the Furrow. In her role as Ontario Queen of the Furrow, Anita will be responsible for promoting the 2017 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo, which is being held in Walton. Throughout the year, she will be visiting local plowing matches across the province to meet with the upcoming local Queens of the Furrow and their respective Plowmens Association. This program aims to promote women in agriculture and raise agriculture awareness.

Anita, who grew up on a farm in Elgin County, is a fourth year student majoring in Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics. She is also the lead of the department's undergraduate liaison team. Congratulations Anita!
