What to do if you discover a fire
- Sound the alarm, pull the closest pull station
- Notify other occupants in the building of the fire as you evacuate via the nearest exit, see University Policy 851.03.01 (PDF)
- Close all doors if safe to do so as you evacuate
- Relay any pertinent information to the responding emergency services personel
- Follow the directions of any fire wardens in the area
- DO NOT use any elevators
- If able to, call extension 52000 from a neighbouring building to relay information to emergency services
You are allowed to enter the building after a fire alarm, ONLY after the bells have stopped ringing for approximately 2 minutes, unless otherwise directed by an official.
