Details
On Saturday, October 14th, 2023, the School of Hospitality, Food & Tourism Management (HFTM) and the University of Guelph Sustainable Restaurant Project (UGSRP) at the University of Guelph will be hosting a conference entitled "Future Proofing Foodservice" focusing on a sustainable future for the foodservice industry.
The conference is a free event for hospitality and culinary students in Ontario. The goal is to help educate and inspire future leaders of the foodservice industry. We anticipate approximately 100 students from six schools in attendance. The full-day event includes 14 speakers covering the following topics: the circular economy; local food systems; food waste; sustainable fisheries; and many others. The program will feature keynote presentations from Chef Meeru Dhalwala (Co-owner and Chef, Vijs Restaurant, Vancouver), and André LaRivière, Principal SFP Sustainable Training Limited.
The event is part of an experiential learning course. The two student leaders responsible for the planning and execution of the event are Addy Malpas (3rd year), and Jas Rubab Singh (4th year).
Further details including a full list of speaker topics can be found on the UGSRP website.
