Our graduate team included the following:
Pengsongze Dave Xue (PhD student),
Ying Zhou (MSc graduate),
Zeyuan Elijah Li (MSc 2nd year student),
Qianya Hannah Li (MSc 2nd year student), and
Professor WooMi Jo [2] who led the team.
STR has been hosting the world-wide competition with undergraduate and graduate categories for 7 years. The competition was held on November 13th and 14th with 26 undergraduate and 11 graduate teams participating.
Student teams analyze various types of hotel and tourism data. Teams then deliver a professional-quality presentation based on their findings to a panel of senior-level industry judges. HFTM's U of G team analyzed the Montreal market this year.
STR believes it is important that young professionals can analyze and interpret different types of data and information. It is also essential that these young professionals are able to tell a story that will inform and enable others to make decisions based on the insights provided. This competition emphasizes teamwork, analytical expertise, critical thinking, and presentation skills.
"Making it to the top 5 was a great acheivement after 3 months of preparation of the competition!"
Professor WooMi Jo
