The School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management (SHFTM) in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics at the University of Guelph wishes Dr. Simon Somogyi well as he takes on a new position with Texas A&M University as the Dr. Kerry Litzenberg Chair in Sales & Economics and Director of the Weston Agri-food Sales Program.
Dr. Somogyi has been with SHFTM since 2018 when he was appointed as Arrell Chair in the Business of Food. During his time in this position, Simon has been an invaluable member of the department teaching our graduate-level courses, supervising graduate students, and contributing to Lang’s strategy. Beyond his contributions to the school, Dr. Somogyi has actively engaged with academia and industry by providing insights and forecasts into the state of the Canadian food supply chain and contributing to Canada’s Food Price Report.
We wish Dr. Somogyi great success in his new role. Further, while August 31st will be Dr. Somogyi's last official day with the University of Guelph, we look forward to continued collaboration with him in the years to come.
