In Person, University of Guelph, Guelph Campus.
Connect, Adapt and Align are three practices that are the foundation of U of G’s performance success framework, GOAL 2.0. The skills, behaviours and attitudes that form the practices are also an integral part of effective leadership the promotes engagement and retention. All people managers are strongly encouraged to attend this session to deepen their understanding of the core practices and what is expected of them as U of G people leaders.
The core practices are based on research that promotes quality conversations underpinning the development and maintenance of a supporting, trusting relationship between a manager and employee. Emphasis is on the value of continuous improvement and adapting to environmental changes and shifting expectations, and the power of connecting people’s work to the goals and objectives of the team, department and U of G so they know how their work is valued and meaningful.
In this session you will learn:
- How to ensure you build empathy and psycholological safety into your conversations and provide opportunities for the other to share their perspectives;
- Approaches to help employees embrace continuous improvement and change;
- Techniques for reinforcing the importance of an employee’s role and how it contributes to the unit, department, and university.
