Over the last three months, we have seen the University of Guelph community rally and respond to an unprecedented situation. With a quick pivot in March, and in a matter of a week, we were able to shift to an alternative delivery format for courses and ensure that students could complete their winter term. This period also saw most of our staff and faculty move to working from home, balancing professional and family responsibilities.
Our successes reflect the significant contributions of our faculty and staff. This has been a trying time for the entire University of Guelph community, but we have still come together in characteristic U of G fashion. At such times, it is important that we recognize the contributions and efforts of our faculty and staff who have contributed so much to the success of the University of Guelph.
To provide a respite and to show our appreciation for the significant contributions of faculty and staff during this time, the University leadership team has elected to provide additional paid days off in conjunction with the July 1, 2020 Canada Day holiday.
The University will be closed for the July 1 statutory holiday (Canada Day) and will remain closed on July 2 and 3, reopening on July 6th. Faculty and staff will receive their normal pay for these additional days off. The University Leadership Team appreciates the efforts of the community during this extraordinary time and hopes that this additional time away from work provides a welcome and deserved break to all of you.
