This past year has been unparalleled in the impact it has had on all members of our University of Guelph community. Each of us has faced unique circumstances and challenges personally and professionally. As GOAL 2.0 Performance Summary Quality Conversations are initiated, we have encouraged managers to approach them with compassion and flexibility to acknowledge the challenges and complexities associated with working through the pandemic. This is an opportunity, to celebrate success, appreciate effort, learn from setbacks, and recognize the important contributions of our staff who have been critical in helping us navigate through these difficult times.
To support this approach, we invite you to consider highlighting “Covid Specific” Competencies [1] in your conversations. They include: Adaptability and Flexibility, Change Management and Versatility, Learning and Innovation, Compassion and Collaboration, which are the skills that we have needed to depend on most over the previous year.
