The Food Institute has developed the Food and Agriculture Business Seminar to bring together a diverse group of current and emerging leadership in the industry to collectively examine trends and issues in today’s global marketplace. By working together in strategically dynamic groups, the participants will benefit from each other’s expertise as they critically examine real cases and interact with the executives of the featured businesses in a non-competitive environment.

Lincoln Alexander Outstanding Leader Award Banquet

Former NHL player and child advocate, Sheldon Kennedy, will receive this year's Lincoln Alexander Outstanding Leader Award. The Lincoln Alexander Outstanding Leader Award recognizes a Canadian who has exhibited exemplary leadership within, and more importantly beyond, the boundaries of his or her profession. It is named after the award’s first recipient, the late Honourable Lincoln M. Alexander, former Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and Chancellor Emeritus of the University of Guelph.

SSHRC Insight Program Grant Writing Workshop

This workshop will include grant writing tips for the Insight Grant 2015 competition (registration deadline anticipated in August 2015) and the Insight Development Grant 2016 competition (application deadline anticipated in January 2016); mock reviews of sample grant applications led by SSHRC review committee members, and information regarding internal review and associated deadlines, provided by colleges and Office of Research Services.

(HFTM) Food Day Canada Ontario Chefs Dinner

HFTM is a founding supporter of Anita Stewart's Food Day Canada, a grand celebration of Canadian food that will take place coast to coast on August 1st. This year a group of Canadian chefs, including Simon Day, Christopher Jess & Brian Schmeler will be heading to the famous James Beard House in New York City to promote Canadian food. In preparation, Simon, along with Christopher and Brian are hosting a 4 course dinner on Saturday, May 2 @ PJ's Restaurant.. Doors open at 6:30 p.m and the 4-course meal begins at 7:00 p.m. Cost is $80.00 (includes all alcohol, tips and tax).
