Improve Skilled Immigration
PhD candidate Nicholas Manuel is helping to improve how the skills of Canadian immigrants are effectively utilized.
We often hear a lot about the importance of skilled immigration in Canada, which means more than just bringing in immigrants with the proper skills. It means making sure they are able to effectively utilize those skills in order to improve the economy. PhD candidate Nicholas Manuel is using his research to ensure that employers are able to effectively value the skills that immigrants bring with them.
“Immigrants tend to not do as well in the labour market as non-immigrants, but why that's the case is relatively unknown. My research sheds further light on what is behind these difficulties.”
