MGMT*3900 Reflection on Experiential Learning - Qualifying Experience Requirements
This experiential learning course aims to help students transfer knowledge and skills gained through employment, sports, student leadership, and volunteer experiences. It is designed to develop and identify critical professional skills that accomplished and capable students should have upon graduation: critical and creative thinking, literacy, global understanding, communication, and professional and ethical behaviour.
To complete this course, students must have a qualifying experience. A qualifying experience must have the following characteristics:
- Must be during the current term (i.e., previous experience does not qualify)
- Minimum of 5 hours each week of the 12 weeks of the term. The student must be active in the extracurricular activity each week of the 12-week term.
- The student cannot be on a co-op term
- Paid (e.g., part-time job), unpaid (e.g., volunteer position), student leadership, high-performance sports (e.g., varsity athlete).
If you do not have a qualifying experience, you MUST find an alternative elective, as you will be deregistered from the course.
NOTE: A pass/fail grade will be assigned upon completion of this course – students will not receive a numerical grade.
I don't have a pre-req, what do I do now?
A pre-req identifies knowledge you are expected to have prior to joining a course. Each course has its own list of pre-reqs. Failure to complete a pre-req means that you cannot take the course in SPMT, BUS, ACCT or HROB, as you lack the prior learning required for that specific course.
Only in exceptional cases (e.g. Transfer students, course changes etc) will students without pre-reqs be allowed based on course availability in the last week before classes start.
A course is full or I want access to it, even though I don’t meet the requirements. What do I do?
When a course is full, it means that we are at capacity for the course. We have restrictions based on physical space and course teaching styles.
If you would like to get into a course that is full, email Connie Zavtiz or the individual on the contact list above.
